We offer the opportunity to work in an urban setting, supporting a diverse group of SEN students to achieve their full potential.Teaching assistants undertake learning support duties and assist the class teacher in meeting the day to day needs of the pupils. Teaching assistants may have the opportunity to work in any one of our four schools across Eastbourne. Teaching assistants support the class teacher with the delivery of the curriculum and respond to the pupils’ needs enabling them to make good progress in their learning. The pupils in our schools may have speech and language needs, autism and / or complex learning disabilities; some will have profound medical needs.The RoleAs a Teaching Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in supporting our teachers and engaging with our pupils. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Assisting in the preparation and delivery of lessons
  • Providing support to individual students or small groups to help them understand the material and complete tasks
  • Helping to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment
  • Monitoring and recording student progress
  • Assisting with the management of classroom resources and setup
About YouWe are looking for candidates who have:
  • A genuine passion for education and the well-being of children
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to work collaboratively with teachers and school staff
  • Patience, flexibility, and a positive attitude
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3 for Teaching Assistants or equivalent) are desirable but not essential

Contract
  • This is a fixed term contract until 23rd July 2024 with the possibility of an extension.
  • The paid hours of work are 30 per week (6 hours each day) - Monday to Friday
  • This is a term time only post which is paid for 45.05 weeks per year.
  • As this post is part time / term time only the salary will be pro rata of the full-time figure (£22,737) and is £15,927 per year.
