ROLE OVERVIEW:As a Typist, you will play a crucial role in accurately and efficiently transcribing inspection reports generated by our inspection team. Your expertise in typing and attention to detail will ensure the production of high-quality reports that meet our clients' expectations.RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Transcribe handwritten inspection reports into digital format using word processing software with high accuracy and speed.
  • Arrange and format the content of inspection reports according to predefined templates, ensuring consistency and adherence to company standards.
  • Review typed reports for errors in grammar, punctuation, spelling, and formatting, making necessary corrections to ensure the accuracy and professionalism of the final product.
  • Coordinate with inspection team members and supervisors to clarify any ambiguities or missing information in handwritten reports, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of the final product.
  • Save copies of the reports into the defined database of completed inspection reports, ensuring confidentiality and data integrity.
  • Distribute (via mail or electronically) copies of the completed reports to customers and engineers.
  • Manage workload effectively, meeting tight deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Adhere to established quality control procedures to ensure consistency and accuracy in all typed reports.
  • Remain updated on company policies, report templates, and formatting guidelines to enhance typing efficiency and maintain consistent standards.
EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Maths and English GCSE (or equivalent) preferred.
TRAINING, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:
  • Proven experience as a typist, data entry operator, or similar role, preferably in a technical or engineering environment.
  • Proficient typing skills with exceptional accuracy and speed.
  • Excellent knowledge of word processing software (e.g., Microsoft Word) and ability to format and organise documents effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to detect errors and inconsistencies.
  • Solid grammar, punctuation, and spelling skills.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Familiarity with technical terminology commonly used in engineering inspections would be an advantage.
Part Time - Fixed Term ContractCTS and our range of independent UKAS accredited laboratories provide on-site testing and laboratory services to the construction, quarry products and civil engineering industries across the whole of the UK.Our purpose-built laboratories are fully equipped to test the mechanical, physical and chemical properties of soils, aggregates, concrete and bituminous materials as well as other construction materials and products.Our highly-trained technicians and engineers either visit sites and take representative samples for subsequent laboratory testing, or conduct in-situ field tests.
