To find out more about RMIT Vietnam and our current vacancies, please visit our website:POSITION SUMMARYThe Student Counsellor based in RMIT SGS campus is a key role within the Counselling and Psychological Services (CAPS) in providing assessment and interventions at an individual, group and broader organisational level. The primary aim of the professional counselling provided is to facilitate the personal, emotional, social and educational transition and adjustment of students. The counselling has an emphasis on brief outcome-informed interventions, psychoeducation consultation, short-term therapy and ongoing referral as necessary.Related duties include working with the families of students who seek counselling, working with learning advisors and academic staff to ensure early detection of psychological problems or learning conditions, working with Equitable Learning and Accessibility Services (ELA), Safer Community and University’s medical services provider concerning student mental support.This role will be responsible for managing individual and group caseload for counselling of current RMIT students, preparation and facilitation of workshops related to enhancing student wellbeing and mental health.KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
  • Degree/Masters in Counselling or Psychology or Social Work and/or qualification/experience in education setting
  • Membership/eligibility for membership with respective professional Counselling, Psychological or Social Work Association
  • Significant experience (minimum of 3 years) in assessing and providing individual counselling to a wide variety of client groups, preferably in an academic/tertiary setting with strong assessment, intervention and referral skills.
