- Schedule, organize, control, and complete weld-related engineering projects (i.e., additive manufacturing, filler material development, etc.).
- Review contract and quality requirements needed for projects (ex. technical package).
- Prepare, review, and release welding procedures in accordance with specifications and procedure qualifications.
- Preparation of welding and manufacturing plans (i.e., bead placement sketches, setup sheets, welding instructions)
- Qualification, documentation, and maintenance of welding procedures.
- Trouble shooting of welding operations (i.e., weldability issues, welding equipment failures).
- Interface with Vendor and Customer representatives as needed.
- Prepare and submit technical reports and documents.
- Develop cost estimates to support proposals.
- Theoretical and working understanding of the gas tungsten, gas metal, shielded metal, and submerged arc welding processes.
- Working knowledge of commercial or military welding qualification and fabrication specifications through practical or classroom experience.
- Theoretical understanding of ferrous and non-ferrous materials includes but is not limited to, bulk microstructure, phase transformations during welding, and proper selection of filler material.
- Bachelor of Science in Welding Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other related field of study.
- Strong communication and technical writing skills, an interest in working in and with multi-disciplinary teams in support of product design and manufacture, and experience in project management and execution.
- Qualified candidates must be a U.S. citizen, able to obtain and maintain a DOE issued Security Clearance and pass pre-employment background and drug screening.
- Experience with additive manufacturing, laser or electron beam welding, and powder-metallurgy hot-isostatic pressing
- Experience working in a defense or aerospace-related environment
- Proficient in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or other related CAD/CAM software
- Experience in navigating specification and contractual requirements
