Salary Range: $17.53 - $21.91 Hourly Job Summary: The City of Greeley Recreation is looking for passionate, friendly, and encouraging sports instructor that will play an integral part in helping successfully conduct seasonal sports clinics and camps. Instructors will be responsible for upholding the City of Greeley youth sports philosophy, leading safe, effective, and encouraging camps, clinics, and activities for a variety of sport formats. Instructors must be dependable and timely. Training and lesson plans will be provided based on experience. Clinic and camp lengths will vary by sport and age. Clinic ages will also vary from 3-14-year-olds. Experience, Knowledge, Skills: Minimum Requirements • Previous experience in community facing roles or customer service. • Experience working with youth from ages 3 -14. • Experience in one or more of the following sports: football, soccer, tennis, baseball, basketball, volleyball, lacrosse, cheer, pickleball, dance. • Adultand Pediatric CPR/AED/First Aid Certification required: American Heart Association or American Red Cross. Preferred • CPR/AED/First Aid certifications. • Previous coaching experience preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities • Knowledge of the business and organizational structure of Colorado municipalities. • Collaboration skills, including the ability to work with others from different areas and backgrounds to reach a common goal. • Computer skills, including the ability to utilize Microsoft Office programs (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.) and learn and experiment with new software and systems. • Interpersonal skills, including the ability to facilitate interaction, communication, and teamwork between others. • Oral, written, and listening communication skills, including the ability to accurately interpret what others are saying and convey messages, information, concepts, and details accurately and clearly. • Organizational skills, includingthe ability to set and meet goals and deadlines, manage appointments, create schedules, coordinate and facilitate meetings, and make decisions. • Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple concurrent and competing tasks and responsibilities, and adapt to changing priorities while maintaining personal effectiveness. • Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, and stay on task when completing special projects and daily assignments. • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and reliable professional judgment, as well as collaboratively with a team to achieve desired results. • Ability to maintain a strong work ethic, positive problem-solving attitude, and enthusiasm for the work performed. • Ability to self-start and take initiative in completing daily tasks and special projects. • Ability to focus on activities that have the greatest impact on meeting work commitments. • Ability to establish and maintain partnerships with a variety ofinternal and external constituencies. • Ability to communicate and work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and ages. • Ability to navigate a complex political environment. • Ability to conduct an effective class based on the sport format appropriate to participant age and skill level. • Demonstrate the knowledge of proper group management and time management. • Ability to effectively communicate with children and adults. • Confidence working in small to large groups. • Ability to provide skill modifications and progressions for a wide variety of abilities. • Ability to uniquely motivate and build rapport with participants to provide a safe and welcoming environment. Essential Functions: • Responsible for design and delivery of sports camps and clinics . • Keep accurate record of class attendance. • Willingness to cross-train in other sport categories, camps and clinic opportunities. • Serve as a role model to staff andparticipants as it relates to sport philosophy, etiquette and safety. • Provide a friendly, inclusive, service-oriented environment for parents and participants. • Maintain familiarity of Greeley Recreation functions including risk management procedures, registration information, basic operational practices, and understanding of programs and services. • Respond to all injuries and assist in immediate emergency procedures. • Keep accurate inventory of clinic and camp equipment in your possession. • Maintain CPR/AED/First Aid certifications. Supervisory Responsibilities • No Supervisory responsibilities. Work Environment and Physical Requirements: Work Environment • Regular exposure to outdoor elements while performing job responsibilities. • Occasionally loud noise levels within the recreation facilities. • Workdays can extend from early mornings to late evenings, as well as weekends and holidays. • Variable Hour Position: employees are expected to workless than 30 hours average per week. Physical Requirements • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. • Physical effort required including, but not limited to, squatting, bending, running, reaching, and prolonged standing and walking. Travel • May travel up to 10% of the time.
