- Failure Investigation and Analysis:
- Review major failures of equipment or processes
- Identify recurring problems or trends
- Initiate and conduct root cause or other structured investigations
- Utilize findings to propose changes or projects
- Data Collection and Analysis:
- Collect and analyze data from mill systems to inform decision-making
- Develop KPIs or metrics to track progress and identify new opportunities for improvement
- Support Maintenance and Engineering Activities:
- Troubleshoot mill equipment
- Prepare specifications, quality control and inspection plans for projects and installations
- Advise on equipment purchases
- Develop operational and maintenance procedures and guidelines
- Develop Reliability programs in areas such as PM, Lubrication, Vibration
- Develop and train other resources through knowledge sharing and proposing training plans
- Perform gap analysis on current procedures against best practices
- Collaborating with other departmental supervisors to help drive issue resolution through to completion
- Communicating daily with Maintenance Superintendent and Maintenance Supervisors regarding maintenance issues and repetitive problems
- Additional Activities:
- Propose new projects or product trials
- Develop strategic plans to improve mill operations
- Maintain relationships with West Fraser peers, vendors, and training providers
- Stay current on state of the industry through training and participation in corporate-lead initiatives
- Optimize maintenance and inventory practices
- Propose changes to internal maintenance and operational processes
- Manage small projects and supervise contractors
- Attending and participating in all safety meetings
- Possess an Engineering Degree, Engineering Technologist Diploma, or Red Seal Trade certification from an accredited institution
- Have minimum 2 years’ experience with reliability systems, technologies and theories
- Have proven leadership experience
- Have previous experience in an industrial environment
- Communicate effectively in oral and written form with all levels of the organization
- Have outstanding computer skills and experience with computer-based maintenance programs
- Have strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical skills
- Work effectively in a team environment
- Have the desire to learn, grow, and succeed

- The hourly pay range for this position may vary depending on experience, education, and location.
