In the newly communicated Sika growth strategy 2028, M&A continues to be in focus along-with investment in start-ups especially in the area such as sustainable construction, sensorics in construction, new raw materials, and Digitalization & AI.To further advance Sika's start-up investments and M&A, we are looking for a young talent who is ready to co-steer the identification of start-up, establishing relationships with start-up owners (deal origination), prepare business case, deal closing and integration working with Sika management. This role will report directly to the Head of M&A APAC.To be successful as a Management Trainee, you should have superb attention to detail and be able to promptly identify problems. Outstanding candidates will have great leadership, problem solving, and interpersonal skills.The Journey:During your 18 months traineeship, you’ll learn how to identify and apply important strategies and business processes. You’ll get to learn about our company’s functions and operations, and you’ll support our management team with daily tasks. Throughout, you will develop strong problem-solving, communication and people management skills. Additionally, you will participate in formal training courses.This trainee program is designed to fast-track the development of high-potential young individuals and prepare them for future leadership positions within the Sika organization. Development components shall include: rotational assignments including cross country projects/training/seminars; mentorship to help navigate daily challenges; formal training sessions/ workshops/seminars to develop essential skills such as leadership, communication, problem-solving, and project management; Job rotation & project deployment to gain hands-on experience and apply the skills and knowledge in a practical setting; networking to expand professional connections; and opportunity to work and be coached by Sika Senior Managers.If this opportunity excites you, we’d like to hear from you!Job DescriptionYou will gain exposure and experience in:
  • Work with regional R&D, Marketing, Operations, M&A and Country Business team to identify key areas of interest
  • Conduct and develop search strategies and identify start-up companies in the area of interest via own desk research / using external consultants
  • Create a long list & short list of potentially interesting investment opportunities in start-up working with Sika team
  • Develop the process to evaluate start-up’s including (i) what improvements it will bring Sika, (ii) stage of start-up (idea, prototype, first sales etc..) and (ii) how Sika could add value to start-up working with various departments in Sika
  • Develop existing relationships and build new ones with potential start-up owners
  • Project manage the investment opportunity from beginning to end, including due diligence, financial planning, scoping, closing and integration
  • Performing company valuations as part of investing into start-up, including assessment of relevant business, operational, and financial aspects
  • Organization and coordination of due diligence activities and execution of selected financial due diligence. Liaison with external consultants and internal/external business leaders
  • Proactively identify issues and opportunities to guide the decision-making process.
  • Creation of internal approval documents in cooperation with the line management for the attention of the Group management/Board of directors
  • Also supporting M&A projects and pipeline management in close cooperation with M&A Head and business leaders
  • Analysis and Preparation of information for M&A projects as required by M&A Head
  • IMO activities as needed
Day-day activities & Cross functional activities
  • Work closely with M&A Head APAC in areas of start-up investment projects and few M&A projects
  • Accompany and interact in meetings with various departments (R&D, Marketing, Operations and Business teams) to identify area of interest for investing in start-ups
  • Use search tools to identify start-ups
  • Create tools (excel / web based) to manage the identified start-ups (long list & short list)
  • Get in touch with Owners of start-up
  • Travel to meet Owners and develop relationship and gather information
  • Tarvel with M&A head for certain meetings in country and/or M&A targets
  • Develop presentation on the start-up and information as required by Sika template working with the team
  • Develop business case for start-up investment opportunity working with M&A head and relevant departments
  • Project manage the investment opportunity across global, regional and country organization
  • Prepare presentations for Sika group management for decision
  • Upon an identified investment project, the management trainee might be required to spend considerable amount of time / rotated to stay in the country where the project will be implemented (mainly in APAC countries)
QualificationsWe’re looking for young, committed talents with:
  • Bachelor’s in business administration/engineering/finance and or MBA
  • 2-3 years of relevant professional experience in the areas of project management, finance, M&A, ideally in an international manufacturing company or a global consultancy firm
  • Chartered accountant certification will be advantage
  • Excellent analytical, computational ability, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Analytical and logical thinking
  • Strong command of English
  • Good communication skills and ability to participate in discussion with Senior leaders and Shareholders.
  • Adept in using new search engines and tools to identify new targets
  • Strong drive and ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to work under deadline and time pressure.
  • High level of commitment and initiative
  • The desire to grow and develop with a company on a long-term scale
