Designs are developed based on descriptions, models, general arrangements, blueprints, and conceptual sketches from engineers and customers. Detailed drawings in support of major projects will be a significant component of the job. The role also includes preparation and integration of bills of material into our manufacturing management software and the creation of information packages for the factory floor. This function is an integral part of our rubber products and solutions business.Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Uses Autodesk Inventor and supporting software to create product models and assemblies for use in both production and sales proposals.
  • Creates and revises production drawings (detail and assembly drawings).
  • Drafts detailed multi-view drawings of specific components and steel fabrications.
  • Creates finished designs from sketches, blueprints, or models.
  • Examines documents to develop, compute, and verify specifications for drafting data, such as configuration of parts, dimensions, or tolerances.
  • Calculates material requirements and records within a manufacturing control system (software)Examine documents to develop and create accurate bills of material (BOM) in the ERP system.
  • Creates supporting information for release of designs to production.
  • Maintains an organized file system for production drawings.
  • Communicates with tooling, QA, project managers, engineering, customers, and manufacturing regarding new and revised prints.
  • Consults with engineers, sales representatives, and customers to discuss or interpret designs and requirements and assists in the development of project and product proposals when required.
  • Creates engineering documents and designs as directed.
  • Assists with data management as needed.
Qualifications and Requirements:Associates degree / diploma in technical drafting and design preferredSkilled in the use Autodesk products (Inventor), or Alternative experience with 3D modeling software such as SolidWorksPrevious experience with ERP / MRP systems is preferable.People SkillsGood Communication SkillsWorking Conditions:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.This position may also require field work including customer visits, equipment reconnaissance, and installations. If required, these field activities will occur in a variety of environmental conditions both indoors and outdoors. Site visits also require the use of standard personal protective equipment related to mining environments for extended periods of time.Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:This is a full-time position. Days and hours of the week vary, but are typically Monday through Friday, 40 hours weekly.
