£30,365 - £32,844 for band 5
£32,526 - £35,185 for band 6
Location: Exeter - Devon, Torbay and Teignbridge.
Hours: Full Time
Client Group: Mental Health & Wellbeing NetworksThey strive continuously to improve and develop their ability to support personal recovery and to achieve the standards set for the mental health and wellbeing networks in Devon, Torbay and Teignbridge. These standards are set out in the Charity statement of purpose and all employees are expected to work towards them at all times.This role is to provide a specialist client centred occupational therapy service to people across acute services. To apply specialist occupational therapy knowledge and skills and support with complex cases, evidencing problem solving and clinically reasoning skills in line with evidence based/client centred principles.Job role:
(Some duties are stated for band 6 only)
  • To assess needs and develop, monitor and evaluate individual discharge plans
  • To provide an Occupational Therapist role within discharge planning as soon as the person is admitted
  • To provide guidance and supervision to the OTA and support worker team to implement discharge plans
  • To promote and improve the quality of service provided
  • To work closely with the nursing and medical teams to develop effective multi-professional input to improve quality of provision
  • To provide training and supervision to the OTA and support worker team
  • To provide statutory consultee role with MHA
  • Lead and develop the OT provision across all areas of Acute services, implementing and maintaining standards, reviewing them regularly and acting where standards are not being met (Band 6)
  • Lead on organisation wide training regarding self-management and evidence-based practices (Band 6)
  • To ensure safe practice working to RCOT standards, government and Step One policies and procedures. Actively address any shortcomings according to this to improve standards, performance and safety (Band 6)
  • To demonstrate and develop effective leadership/supervision skills
  • To provide supervision and appraisals to appropriate/allocated staff
  • To be responsible for the provision and maintenance of effective therapeutic relationships, which at all times acknowledges the rights and personal dignity, and encourages opportunity for growth and development, of the person using this service
  • To provide cross cover to other Step One services where there is a need for Occupational Therapist input
  • To have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • To be proficient in the use of electronic systems
  • To maintain professional working relationships with other members of the multi-disciplinary team
To Qualify:
  • Diploma/Degree in Occupational Therapy
  • State registration with HCPC
  • A willingness to complete mandatory courses (will be required to complete and undertake relevant Physical Interventions training, with adjustments considered, if required)
  • Current driving licence and ability to drive
  • Able to demonstrate a knowledge of Clinical Governance
  • Evidence of relevant training courses
  • Experience of research or audit
  • Membership of specialist professional group
