The Senior Manager of CapEx & Tooling Management will lead and facilitate communication among product and process development teams, suppliers, and purchasing to ensure early supplier collaboration on design for manufacturability, assembly, and costs, while also ensuring adherence to APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) guidelines.You Will:
  • Provide leadership and act as the key communicator for Collaborative Product and Process Development.
  • Work in tandem with the Supplier Industrialization Engineer during final qualification on-site visits to collaboratively evaluate the capacity of the tools.
  • Generate a report based on findings from final visits to provide the Design Engineering team with an analysis aimed at design-for-cost reduction initiatives.
  • Develop and implement strategies for CAPEX management, focusing on cost reduction and optimal investment.
  • Serve as the primary link between the quality management team and the finance department, facilitating effective communication and joint decision-making.
  • Lead a cross-functional team to solutions that meet multiple objectives and balance performance, quality, velocity, and cost. Must have strong analytical skills and the ability to influence others in case of conflicts in processes, objectives, or solutions.
  • Forecast future costs to ensure stability and predictability.
  • Identify and set current and future target costs that are realistic and valid.
  • Meet product cost, quality, and time targets in the product lifecycle through supplier collaboration at a part number level for their respective components, systems, and/or categories, including total cost management (Ex-works, packaging, and logistics).
  • Develop detailed component cost models and high-level cost estimates through collaboration with the Supplier Industrialization Engineer.
  • Lead the team in identifying cost opportunities, defining requirements for parts, and achieving cost targets for each area.
  • Develop methodologies and structures for future team expansion.
  • Verify Capital Expenditures by conducting detailed reviews of invoices, receipts, and purchase orders to ensure accuracy and adherence to authorized budgets.
  • Perform physical verification of assets including tools, equipment, fixtures, and facilities to ensure they exist and are in good working condition as per the contract.
  • Ensure all capital expenditures align with contract specifications, including quality standards, quantities, and technical requirements.
  • Monitor adherence to project timelines and contractual obligations, reporting any deviations or delays.
  • Evaluate the operational integration and utilization of new equipment and tools in the production process.
  • Assess, along with the Supplier Industrialization Engineer, whether new assets have led to expected improvements in production efficiency and quality.
  • Run financial impact and ROI assessments.
  • Analyze financial data to calculate and validate the return on investment from new capital expenditures.
  • Review depreciation methods and schedules to ensure they are compliant with accounting standards and reflect true asset valuation.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for all CAPEX-related transactions and decisions.
  • Prepare and present detailed reports on CAPEX utilization and outcomes to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Evaluate and enhance internal controls related to the procurement and use of capital assets.
  • Ensure compliance with all internal policies and external regulatory requirements related to capital expenditure.
  • Inspect equipment and facilities for compliance with environmental laws and safety standards specific to the automotive industry.
  • Recommend improvements and corrective actions to ensure compliance and enhance safety.
You Bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Operations, Supply Chain Management, or Engineering. MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years experience in high-volume manufacturing operations or sourcing or supplier/supply chain management environment with a proven track record of global team development.
  • Supply chain experience managing cross-functional teams, ideally within the automotive industry.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, proven program management capabilities, and the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills, hands-on and data-driven, creative mindset in problem-solving.
  • Positive attitude, willingness to learn, be part of the solution, and ability to adapt to a dynamic working environment.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Working knowledge of Smartsheet, JMP, Minitab, JIRA, and Tableau is a plus.
