Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is hiring an RN into a Unit Coordinator role in our Medical Surgical Unit, 6K. We are growing and have doubled in our bed capacity!As a Unit Coordinator, you will function in a charge nurse / staffing capacity role at times, but also have alternate tasks ranging from audits, staff schedules, patient experience, and committee work. There are many different specialties where you can perform and grow your nursing skills in areas of interest to you. If you desire, there are promotional opportunities into additional leadership roles or to advance your level of care in a variety of settings.   • Day Shift; 7am – 7pm
  • Minimum of 18 months of nursing experience is required

  • We are a 42-bed Medical Specialties Unit. Our diverse patient population includes but is not limited to CHF, Sickle Cell, Renal Failure, Vascular, Sepsis, COPD, Pneumonia, Osteomyelitis w/ Surgical Interventions, Wound Care and, an assortment of varying disease processes.
  • We one main Nursing Station and 7 Substations. Within those Substations you can visualize your patient assignment and govern your own work area. Equipment utilized on unit has EPIC integration, thus decreasing your time inputting data. We live out our “no staff left behind” motto and teamwork model by staying in contact with each other through the use of walkie talkies, including the management team. We are ALL invested and willing to assist you in your goal to deliver stellar care!

BSN required; Master degree preferred, if the graduate degree is not in nursing then the BSN is required. Meets any requirements defined by specific specialty. Behavioral Health - de-escalation and physical intervention training within 15 days of hire. Emergency Care - de-escalation and physical intervention training within 90 days of hire. BLS required within 90 days of hire. Professional Specialty Nursing Certification preferred.
