We are currently seeking an experienced Autism Specialist Teaching Assistant to join one of our client schools in South Manchester.Role Overview:As an Autism Specialist Teaching Assistant, you will be responsible for providing tailored support and guidance to students with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) within the school setting. You will work closely with the school's SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) and other staff members to create and Education, Health and Care Plans that meet the unique needs of each student.Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and deliver specialised teaching strategies to support students with autism spectrum disorders.
  • Collaborate with school staff and external professionals to assess students' needs and progress.
  • Create and implement individualised education plans (IEPs) that address academic, social, and behavioural goals.
  • Provide ongoing support and guidance to students, ensuring they have access to the resources and accommodations they need to succeed.
  • Monitor and evaluate students' progress, adjusting teaching strategies and interventions as necessary.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and caregivers, providing updates on students' progress and offering guidance on how to support learning at home.
Requirements:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent certification.
  • Specialised training and experience working with students with autism spectrum disorders.
  • Strong understanding of autism and the impact it can have on learning and behaviour.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, and parents.
  • Patient, compassionate, and empathetic approach to working with students with special educational needs.
