Offer DescriptionThe breakthrough of assisted reproductive technology (ART) in recent scientific history has allowed
couples previously unable to conceive to achieve viable pregnancy. Although ART has improved outcomes
for struggling couples, a new challenge has emerged: recurrent implantation failure (RIF). RIF is defined as
the failure to achieve a clinical pregnancy after transfer of at least four good-quality embryos in a woman
under the age of 40. RIF is unexplained in nearly 30% of cases and the mechanisms of this unexplained
infertility are not well-established. Balanced structural rearrangements, such as inversions and
translocations, are one of the principal genetic factors in reproductive failure. These aberrations may
show no obvious clinical manifestations and remain undetected across multiple generations, although
carriers may experience recurrent adverse pregnancy outcomes as a consequence of forming unbalanced gametes.RequirementsAdditional InformationEligibility criteriaEligible destination country/ies for fellows:
