The University of Surrey is a global community of ideas and people, dedicated to life-changing education and research.We are ambitious and have a bold vision of what we want to achieve - shaping ourselves into one of the best universities in the world, which we are achieving through the talents and endeavour of every employee.Our culture empowers people to achieve this aim and to collectively, and individually, make a real difference.The roleIn this role, you will support and assist students, staff, and visitors, delivering information and answering first line enquiries about a wide range of Library and Learning services.You will provide help and support across all areas of service to meet users' needs as fully as possible, responding to all enquiries in accordance with agreed procedures and providing clear, one-step referral to those that require input from specialist teams.In addition, you will participate in general user access and lending tasks, including membership related liaison, library borrower account management, negotiating queries, and supporting all our users in the building and those studying remotely.About youWe are looking for an enthusiastic and confident individual with excellent customer service skills. You will be able to deal with multiple enquiries both at our busy Library and Learning Hive area and online, and will help to maintain a pleasant environment to meet student needs.There is an expectation that the post holder will work some evening sessions and that they will be a key decision maker and point of contact for any issues that arise. Good interpersonal skills and cultural awareness and an ability to manage your own workload and to support self-service operations are also essential.This full-time role requires the post-holder to work flexible hours under the annualised hour scheme.What we can offerIn addition to salary, you will receive a yearly incremental pay rise, generous annual leave entitlement of 25 days holiday plus 7 university closure days and 8 bank holidays (pro rata for part time roles), a generous pension, access to world-class leisure facilities on campus, a range of travel schemes, and supportive family friendly benefits including an excellent on-site nursery.How to applyTo apply for this role, please submit your CV and a cover letter.
