- Understands the scope, background respiratory physiology and ATS/ ERS guidelines required for pulmonary function testing.
- Demonstrates the ability to perform a variety of basic and advanced pulmonary function tests
- Coordinates with the multidisciplinary sleep team to ensure positive cases of sleep related breathing disorders are initiated on the required positive airway pressure therapy.
- Supports the family with mask desensitization, mask fittings and pressure from PAP devices.
- Follows up with patients accordingly to review and monitor the progress on PAP therapy.
- Produces summarized progress reports from data downloads, which can be provided to the family and referring physician to see if any intervention is required.
- Identifies self-learning needs and take initiative to meet those needs
- Serves as a role model for all staff assisting in promoting and sharing knowledge via mentorship and preceptorship programs in accordance with evidence-based practice.
- Acts as a preceptor/mentor in the supervision and teaching new staff or students in the development of competencies required
- Interacts with children, visitors in a courteous, respectful and helpful manner
- Interacts with members of the healthcare team in a manner that demonstrates respect, effective communication skills and promotes teamwork
- Documents all relevant information correctly, appropriately and in a timely manner
- Demonstrates advocacy for children, young adults and their families.
- Encourages and involve children and their families in care decisions to make informed choices by providing them with information, support and direction to the relevant support services as appropriate.
- Contributes to the achievement of clinical quality indicators, positive patient outcomes and patient and family satisfaction through extraordinary service.
- To actively support strategies for Safeguarding Children and ensure participate in the development and implementation of safeguarding strategies and procedures
- Demonstrate accurate, clear and timely verbal and written communication
- Actively promote safety for children, families, visitors and co-workers.
- Bachelor’s degree in a Respiratory related degree
- Post Graduate Training qualification in Respiratory Health / Medicine or Therapy of at least one (1) year duration.
- Post Graduate Qualification in specialty if applicable in country of origin.
- Minimum of three (3) years clinical experience handling Pediatric patients
- Preferably someone with DHA license/eligibility
- Life Support and Advanced Life support Training
