We’re looking for a dynamic and personable Engagement Director to carry out the company’s Mission and Core Values.The Grove at Countryside is operated by Starling, based out of Jacksonville, FL. Starling is an owner operator of multiple properties within the Southeast Region.The professional selected for this dynamic role will manage all senior engagement aspects of this 24-hour, 7 day a week assisted living community, in order to ensure resident and family satisfaction, as well as regulatory compliance. They will work closely with Executive Director, Starlings COO, and Regional team, to develop and execute initiatives to consistently deliver the Mission, company quality standards, and Core Values of the organization.The Grove at Countryside, the brand new luxury & premier assisted living community, is looking for an energetic and creative Activity Director to join our team!POSITION SUMMARYDevelops and oversees resident activities, including planning and coordinating opportunities for residents that promote a level of health, well-being, engagement and growth, both on and off campus.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESThe following duties are normal for this position. This list is not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
  • Plans, schedules and conducts lifestyle programs that provide physical, intellectual, social, emotional and spiritual opportunities for the residents.
  • Plans appropriate programs for holidays and special events.
  • Recruits and develops additional resources for services to the residents. Initiates correspondence including public relations communications with outside organizations, service groups and volunteers.
  • Advises and motivates residents regarding appropriate individual and group activities based on resident interests and opportunities for growth.
  • Prepares and organizes a calendar of events. Submits the calendar to the Executive Director for final approval. Posts and distributes the calendar.
  • Develops and prints the community newsletter.
  • Coordinates the community library.
  • Purchases and maintains equipment and supplies in accordance with budgetary guidelines.
  • Organizes and supervises a volunteer staff.
  • Addresses resident groups and other groups on subjects of common interest.
  • Supervises staff of Engagement Coordinators and Drivers across the multiple levels of service in a retirement community.
  • Ensures all components of the Fleet Program are adhered to.
  • Supervises drivers in accordance with the Fleet Program.
  • Participates in community in-services.
  • Demonstrates competence in Federal, State and Local regulations, requirements for skilled nursing, assisted living and/or independent living as applicable; ensures compliance.
  • Develops, facilitates and analyzes resident surveys to determine ongoing activities are in place that meet the resident interests.
  • Plans, coordinates and facilitates appropriate mixed group activities.
  • Develops and facilitates daily displays of activities on bulletin boards and/or kiosks in lobbies, elevators, dining rooms and other resident and team member communication centers.
  • Maintains a robust public relations program in support of the activities programming and community relations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESDirectly supervises employees in the Engagement & Transportation Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees.QUALIFICATIONSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Educational Requirements and Experience: * Associate degree in Recreation, Therapeutic Recreation, Education, Gerontology, Social Work, Adult Education preferred but not required.
  • At least one year of experience in a related field.
  • Two years supervisory/management experience.
