ensure student success for all.General purpose and scope of the position:This position provides support primarily to the Lawrence site by answering the phone, greeting and assisting students, staff and visitors, addressing questions, referring to appropriate information sources, and assisting students to find information on Ivy Tech and MyIvy websites.The position, working under minimal supervision, serves as first point of contact to address day to day operation of building during the shift by identifying and reporting potential problems that may require resolution. The Academic Support Associate also functions to assist faculty and staff with trouble shooting any issues that may arise such as submitting facility or IT help desk tickets, finding a work around solution to meet the immediate need of students or staff, or escalating concerns to building leadership.The position requires the staff member to be a continuous learner understanding key information about Ivy Tech Community College and Services. As assigned, the staff member completes projects to aid in the effective operation of the department. Includes general office tasks involving frequent public contact and frequent computer use.Responsibilities:
  • Greet visitors, students, faculty/staff and community members as first point of contact.
  • Respond to requests for information as first point of contact via phone call or walk-in needs.
  • Assist students with completing enrollment steps for admission to college, completing application, online orientation, registering for class, making appointments, answering enrollment steps, and navigating Ivy Tech websites.
  • Assist with wayfinding and facility or service needs, including escalation to proper staff member and other duties as assigned.
  • Demonstrate a strong customer service and/or student advocacy through a positive attitude of approachability, adaptability, strong problem-solving and desire to identify and support student success.
  • Adjustment of hours involving location and/or evening and/or weekend work may be required.
  • Perform assigned responsibilities, duties, and tasks according to established practices, procedures, techniques, and standards in a safe manner and with minimal supervision.

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Computer proficiency
  • Ability to handle difficult situations to reach positive solutions
  • Must be able to walk around office and classroom environments
  • Ability to make decisions independently in order to serve students and faculty/staff

  • Morning Shift - Mon-Fri 8:00am-12:30pm (30min Break)
  • Afternoon Shift – Mon-Fri 12:30pm-5:00pm (30min Break)
