Start your dream career with Dematic todayTHE OPPORTUNITYThe Global Controls Software R&D team within Dematic/KION is responsible for delivering controls software products to the Dematic organisation to support a wide range of warehouse automation and distribution solutions. We are offering a terrific opportunity for an experienced Controls Software Engineer/Developer within the extremely talented Australian development team.As a logistics solutions system integrator, Dematic delivers highly complex, full warehouse solutions including a full range of materials handling and storage systems linked with advanced warehouse software. Our customers include businesses of all sizes in the industries of eCommerce, retail, manufacturing, exporting, parcel services, and many others.The purpose of the Global Controls Software R&D team is to develop leading-edge technology to be used by our Project Engineering divisions globally, allowing Dematic/KION to maintain and grow in its position as a market leader.DAY TO DAYYou will be responsible for developing high quality controls software for PLCs and/or other real time controller platforms, as well as potentially developing higher-level software tools/applications to support the configuration and deployment of controls software products by regional Project Engineering and Customer Service groups.Reporting to the Senior Manager of Controls Software Development in Australia, you will be part of a team that follows the Scrum software development framework. To be successful in this role you must have:A passion for excellence, a keen and proven interest in software and programming as well as robotics and automation, the ability to work in a team environment, the technical skill to produce software (PLC and higher-level) of a high quality, and the drive to complete tasks within the required time frameAn understanding of professional software development. During development, focus will be on producing high quality software. This includes aspects of designing, developing, testing, documenting, enhancing, and supporting this softwareBe able to set standards within your assigned technical area and mentor more junior engineersBe able to work collaboratively with peer technical leads with the intention of standardising development amongst global development teams.Tasks and Qualifications:WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FORSuccessful candidates will possess the following:Bachelor or higher degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer ScienceExperience in PLC or real-time controller programmingExperience in designing and developing software using a higher-level or object-oriented language such as C#, C++, C, Python, Java, Visual Basic, etc.Experience in an agile development environment is beneficialSome experience in HMI/SCADA/GUI development is beneficialHands-on experience within the Automated Material Handling Systems or similar industry is beneficial.WHAT WE OFFERDematic has the soul of a start-up with a culture that ensures every person can be themselves, make an impact and have a harmonised work-life balance.
