We are currently seeking a Mechanical Quantity Surveyor to join our team. In this role, you will closely collaborate with the project team, including engineers, BIM specialists, estimators, procurement officers, subcontractors, and clients, to ensure precise and efficient cost control, estimation, and reporting. This opportunity is situated in a region poised for further growth and offers an excellent chance for an ambitious QS to advance their career with the support and guidance of our experienced senior commercial team members.Your responsibilities will include :
  • Collaborate closely with the estimation team to review and validate Mechanical cost estimates for each project.
  • Manage cost control measures, identify potential commercial risks, and promptly report them to management.
  • Conduct cost analysis and value engineering exercises to identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Monitor and track project costs, including variations, change orders, and progress payments, both upstream and downstream.
  • Collaborate with the estimation/BIM team to ensure accurate quantity take-offs and bills of quantities for Mechanical systems and installations in each project.
  • Review mechanical drawings and specification revisions to ensure any changes are identified.
  • Conduct site visits and inspections to assess work progress, validate quantities, and address any discrepancies.
  • Evaluate subcontractor claims and prepare reports on quantities, rates, and payment applications.
  • Administer the contract for each project in collaboration with the project team, ensuring compliance with contract terms and conditions.
  • Review and analyze contractual agreements, identifying key contractual obligations, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Manage the contractual correspondence, including change orders, claims, and dispute resolution, in coordination with the project team.
  • Collaborate with the legal/compliance team to ensure adherence to legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain and implement systems for tracking labor resources and performance on Mechanical works for each project.
  • Monitor labor productivity, efficiency, and performance to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective measures.
  • Collaborate with project managers and site supervisors to gather labor-related data and analyze productivity trends.
  • Prepare reports on labor S/E, productivity, and performance indicators for each project individually.
  • Generate regular cost reports, forecasts, and cash flow projections for Mechanical works.
  • Maintain accurate records of all Mechanical cost-related documents, contracts, and correspondence.
  • Prepare and present cost reports to project stakeholders, highlighting key findings and recommendations.
  • Assist in the preparation of final accounts and settlement of claims.
Skills and Requirements:Essential third-level qualification in Quantity Surveying/Construction Economics or a related fieldExperience as a Mechanical QS on large-scale construction projectsProficiency in Mechanical cost control, estimation, and quantity surveying techniquesStrong command of relevant QS software and tools (e.g., CostX, Bluebeam, Countfire, Excel)Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholdersGood organizational and time management abilitiesFamiliarity with local regulations and industry standards related to Mechanical works.
