A leading IT Consulting firm is seeking an experienced Data Center Technician to work part time (2 days per week) to service a large financial services client. This will be a contract opportunity until October, with the potential opportunity for extension. This position is perfect for someone returning to work, with restrictions on hours or a candidate looking to pick up an additional hours of work on top of existing part time work.Role and Responsibilities:
  • Reports and Metrics (Documentation of monthly reports and quarterly performance diagnostics)
  • Facilities and Vendor support coordination.
  • Capacity planning and rack space management (Tracking data center space, power and cooling capabilities. Allocating rack space based on physical size, power consumption and required patches)
  • Racking of equipment in the Data Center. Also includes decommissioning activities to free rack space. Moving equipment between data centers to redeploy or support break fix.
  • Troubleshooting of physical network issues in partnership with the network / backend team.
  • Planning and managing support for change request and equipment movement including documentation and project management.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of equipment and devices.
  • Conduct daily walkthrough on the DC and escalate any alarms observed to the correct team.
