Do you want experience working with trauma, mental health and behavioural challenges?A friendly Specialist School for children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) Needs is looking for a Mental Health Teaching Assistant in Salisbury to support their pupils through the school day. The students in this Specialist Mental Health School range from 5 to 18 and all have significant anxiety, trauma, OCD, emotional needs and behavioural challenges and therefore need a Mental Health Assistant who is caring, understanding and ready to support young people.Graduates who have qualified in Psychology, Criminology, Health & Social Care or Counselling would be perfect for this role, along with candidates with relevant SEN experience. Passion and enthusiasm when working with vulnerable young people, and an interest in mental health is essential!This Mental Health School is a place where no two days are the same. However, your general duties will involve working in a small class of students, working both 1:1 and in small groups to boost the students' academic progress and emotional literacy. You will help make the classroom and a fun, exciting and safe environment for all the pupils, and help spark a love of learning in each pupil.This is an unmissable opportunity for anyone wanting to gain experience in the mental health sector before going on to become a Therapist, Counsellor or Psychologist. As a Mental Health Teaching Assistant, you will build practical experience supporting young people with significant needs and learn how to communicate with and support them, through the help of trained professionals.
