Being exceptional hoteliers has been the core of the operation, creating a successful hospitality business.Role: We are recruiting for a Group Head of Learning and Development to join our group of 14 hotels located across the UK, with a headcount of approximately 525 people. Initially reporting to the CEO, and working closely with the group HR team, the role will focus on identifying, developing and implementing the group learning & development (L&D) strategy, whilst folding this into the overall HR/ people strategy for our hotels. Importantly, whilst focussing on strategy, the role will also involve hands-on training delivery and management and facilitation of external training through existing and new partners.Location: This role is based from our central office in the beautiful heritage city of Bath, although regular travel to our hotels will be a key part of this position (you will need your own transport for travel; we will cover your travel expenses and you can stay at the properties you visit). Our central support team for Andrew Brownsword Hotels and ABode hotels work out of our beautiful town house office in central Bath, as well as working remotely from our properties across the UK when needed.
Our stunning office in the heart of Bath is a great location to work from, as well as to collaborate with the hotel central support team and wider group businesses, which are all based under one roof.Hours: Full time, Monday to Friday.What you'll be doing:
  • Identify learning needs for the hotel group and create an L&D strategy that addresses those needs.
  • Produce and continually develop a learning framework that is accessible to all levels of the business and provide clear pathways for learning and progression for all roles.
  • Create and develop the training content and material to be used across the business, making sure it is always relevant, engaging and on trend, whilst in keeping with our agreed standards & values.
  • Ensure that our agreed behaviours, skills and competencies are trained and coached across the business.
  • Continually assess the effectiveness of training and coaching delivered across the group, adjusting course where needed.
  • Be responsible for the on-going management and successful implementation of the group’s Learning Management System (LMS), including keeping our training structures relevant and up to date.
  • Produce and successfully implement development programmes across the hotel group.
  • Manage the hotel group’s apprentice levy fund, making sure we always utilise this to develop our teams.
  • Maximise partnerships with selected schools, colleges, and universities so that we foster positive relationships and produce an ongoing pipeline of great people for our properties.
  • Produce regular reports and updates on the training function for the group.
  • Be part of the wider people team, helping to support with people initiatives and challenges across the hotel group, including employee relations cases, from time to time.
What you'll need:
  • Previous experience in an L&D role with considerable knowledge of hospitality operations and people & culture practices.
  • Training qualifications may be helpful- but not essential.
  • The understanding of statutory training requirements as well as best practise approaches to all areas of L&D.
  • Capability to deliver statutory and qualification-based training, as part of internal training centre through Highfield or other accredited suppliers.
  • Effective ability to train, motivate, coach, and develop others, both within and groups and one to one settings.
  • To be commercially aware and manage L&D activity accordingly.
  • The ability to design and deliver interactive, inspiring training sessions that consider all learning styles.
  • To be tech and data savvy, confident with online digital platforms, with experience in managing a Learning Management System (LMS).
  • To be happy to travel for work regularly, including overnight stays (at our hotels) when needed.
  • Self-confidence, energy, enthusiasm.
  • Great attention to detail and excellent written communication.
