As they navigate the challenges and opportunities of the future, they need a Section 151 Officer who can drive our financial strategy with innovation and integrity.Role Overview:As the Section 151 Officer, you will be the council's Chief Financial Officer, responsible for ensuring sound financial management and statutory compliance. Your role will be pivotal in shaping our financial policies, managing our budget, and providing strategic advice to our senior leadership team.Key Responsibilities:- Lead and oversee the council's financial strategy, ensuring alignment with our strategic objectives.- Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements under the Local Government Act.- Provide expert financial advice to the council, senior management, and elected members.- Develop and implement robust financial policies, procedures, and systems.- Manage the preparation and monitoring of budgets, financial forecasts, and financial statements.- Lead the finance team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.- Engage with external stakeholders, including auditors, government agencies, and community groups.Qualifications and Experience:- A qualified accountant (CIPFA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).- Extensive experience in a senior financial management role, ideally within local government or the public sector.- In-depth knowledge of local government finance and accounting practices.- Proven track record of strategic financial planning and budget management.- Strong leadership and team management skills.- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.- A proactive, solution-oriented approach with a commitment to public service excellence.What they Offer:- £700 - £800 pd- A supportive and collaborative Hybrid working environment.How to Apply:If you are ready to take on this exciting and challenging role, I would love to hear from you.
