Trainee Surveyor/Surveyor (Public Sector)Looking for your next career step as a Trainee Surveyor/Surveyor?Interested in working on meaningful projects making a difference in Northern Ireland's Utility Sector?VANRATH are delighted to be recruiting for a Trainee Surveyor/Surveyor. The successful candidate will initially be focused on surveying and preparing files for our Connections construction business.Responsibilities:
  • Topographical survey for new and existing overhead powerlines and associated underground cable for connection or upgrade up to 33kV across Northern Ireland for Connectons Delivery using both total station and GPS survey tools
  • Overhead line design using Optimal PoleCAD system
  • Create and update data to maintain our data registers
  • Agreeing new overhead lines, underground cables and amendments with landowners, developers, etc.
  • Process field notes, sketches and other digital data into field file packs for construction teams
  • Prepare geographical construction maps
  • Contribute to the successful delivery of projects by active engagement with all associated teams and departments
  • Effective management of resolving customer complaints
  • Deliver projects within agreed time and budget constraints
  • Preparation of planning applications and interaction with relevant consultees
  • Provide guidance and direction on overhead line construction
  • Manage customer interactions with a successful outcome
  • Manage personal workload in line with business needs
  • Assist with the management of customer standards, GCCNI or Director enquiries and other customer related issues
  • To successfully engage with landowner to ensure all required legalities including wayleaves, cable easements, rights of way and substation leases are obtained
Candidate:
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
  • A working knowledge of total station survey techniques
  • A survey related qualification/module
  • A positive attitude to the job with the willingness to regard customer service as the top priority
  • Demonstrate the ability to be able to positively influence safety behaviours
  • A practical understanding of the wayleave process
  • A working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
  • The flexibility to work throughout Northern Ireland as required
  • A current driving licence
DESIRABLE CRITERIA
  • A minimum of one years' experience in survey of overhead power lines
  • GPS Survey experienc
  • A working understanding of PoleCAD or another CAD package
  • A working understanding of Northern Ireland Planning processes
  • A working knowledge of design issues associated with overhead and underground distribution networks
  • A working knowledge of wayleave/lease/easement processes
Remuneration
