Project Engineer: Civil or Transportation

- Bachelor's or master's degree in civil engineering
- Professional Engineering license preferred
- 5+ years of experience
- A growing knowledge base in civil engineering (transportation focus)
- Gaining understanding of basic geometric design principles of roadways and industry roadway design standards
- Proficiency in one or more of the following: MicroStation (including OpenRoads), AutoCAD (including Civil 3D)
- Experience coordinating utility, right-of-way, street lighting, traffic signals, and landscape and hardscape layout
- Experience developing construction documents and cost estimates
- Interest in multimodal and active transportation design
- Professional Engineering license(s) in other Midwestern states (IA, IL, IN, KS, MI, MO, ND, NE, OH, SD, and/or WI) or the ability to obtain Exposure to construction management
- Technical writing experience
- Experience analyzing and designing stormwater infrastructure
- Experience using stormwater design software such as HydroCAD or HydroFlow
- Traffic engineering and Signal design experience
- Specific knowledge of advanced multimodal roadway design and NACTO guidance
- Understanding of MUTCD standards at the state and federal level
- Experience working on transit projects
- Experience with bicycle, pedestrian, transit, and Safe Routes to School issues for all ages and abilities
- Experience in Complete Streets, bikeway, and crossing design
- Experience preparing transportation and local agency permit documents
- Experience developing conceptual designs for intersections and corridors
- Experience with operational analysis
- Experience working on preliminary and/or final design engineering projects for major existing and potential clients in our market area, such as MnDOT, Twin Cities area counties, Twin Cities metro area core and first ring suburban cities, Greater Minnesota regional center municipalities, and similar agencies in neighboring states
