- Reports to the senior level propulsion engineer and interacts directly with the program/project on all impacted safety issues and concerns and On-Board Propulsion Systems, possibly including International Partners.
- Reviews VV products and NASA defined requirements to verify requirement compliance and general propulsion system efficiency and effectivity.
- Knowledge in component and system certification and the impacts of component design and operating environment on certification.
- Liaison for flight Anomaly Resolution review and In-Flight Investigation review, capable of solving propulsion questions with low levels of information.
- Organizes, reviews, and Attends VV presentations for Propulsion Subsystem related items.
- Attends project/program board level meetings when Propulsion Subsystem specific topics will be presented.
- Organizes and Leads VV coordination meetings as needed.
- Knowledge in the design and development of major elements of ground test and space flight systems required to demonstrate the utilization of propulsion and fluid systems.
- Writes technical and progress reports covering assigned tasks which are made available to other technical groups and agencies.
- Plans, coordinates, manages, evaluates, and reports on VV analyses studies and tests of components and systems.
- Resolves unique or novel problems, conditions, and issues related to Propulsion Subsystems.
- Other duties as assigned.
- This position requires US Citizenship or Permanent Resident status due to the sensitivity of customer related information.
- Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field.
- Must have 3+ years of spacecraft population experience.
- Basic knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the field, such as mechanical system design, engineering drawings and sketches, material selection, testing, and office software.
- Excellent organizational skills, oral and written communication skills, and the ability to coordinate support form a wide range of technical disciplines.
- Confident in knowledge and experience, and able to discuss population topics with subject matter experts.
- Experience in design, assembly, testing, certification, and operation of space population systems and components.
- Familiar with JSC organizations, processes, and procedures.
- Experience coordinating space propulsion systems requirements.
- Verification and validation between multiple organizations.
- Familiarity with the NASA JSC Engineering Life Cycle process.
- This position is located on-site.
- This position offers a 9/80 schedule, every other Friday off.
- This position may require some travel.
- Must have experience with Microsoft Office Suite.

- Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.
- Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time).
- May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).
- Regular attendance in accordance with an established work schedule is critical.
- Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
