In conjunction with Practice Assistants and Partners, the Revenue Controller is responsible for helping to achieve such targets as:
- Days to release for time capture
- Monthly billing and collections
- Inventory ageing
- Lock-up period reduction
- To achieve these targets, you will be required to manage all phases of the inventory cycle by:
- Regularly meeting with partners and acting as their trusted advisor for inventory matters
- Working closely with the lawyers to ensure time is captured accurately and frequently
- Periodically reviewing timekeeper and client rates
- Reviewing WIP and AR balances on a routine basis
- Coordinating with the billing teams to ensure Invoices are raised in accordance with client agreements and firm policy
- Providing and achieving monthly billing and collection targets
- Liaising with clients to ensure timely payment in accordance with payment terms
- Monitoring inventory levels and related exposures on fixed/capped fee matters, which includes preparing client WIP updates
- 5+ years’ experience in a similar role
- Tertiary qualification in Accounting/Commerce/Business (or similar)
- Excellent interpersonal and team working skills
- Can work with all levels within an organization, especially senior members
- Able to build strong relationships and inspire confidence from internal and external stakeholders
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrate ability to deal with difficult situations effectively
- Self-motivated, organized, and able to work with minimal supervision to meet deadlines
- Numerate with an acute attention to detail
- IT literate, especially in Excel (intermediate level)
- Law firm experience will be advantageous
- Knowledge of 3E and various e-billing portals (i.e. CounselLink, Tymetrix and Collaborati) will be advantageous
- Knowledge of Australian GST treatment
- This is a Specialist role based in Sydney, reporting to the Revenue Controller for Australia, based in Melbourne.
