PCMO (also referred to a Cash Services) forms part of the Asset Servicing COO organisation. The role reports to the Global Head of Cash Services (Global Payments & Cash Management Operations)PCMO comprises (i) Payment Operations (ii) Cash & Liquidity Management Operations (iii) Payment Scheme Operations and (iv) Capability & Industry.The Cash & Liquidity Management Operations group comprises approximately 150 Partners located across our London, Chicago, Guernsey, Bangalore, Pune and Melbourne offices. The group delivers core cash & liquidity management operations & treasury trade support services to include interest claims management.PCMO have embarked on a transformational journey to renovate how we deliver our core payments, cash & liquidity management services. Over the next 2 years & beyond, the role will work in close partnership with leaders across Cash Services, Treasury, Credit, Business and Technology to:

Job Summary

  • Is accountable for the performance and results of a major part of the organization (significant operational segment within Northern Trust function or a region/country within a function).
  • Develops and executes strategy to achieve key business objectives.
  • Decisions are guided by company and functional strategy and objectives. Manages and provides expertise for multiple functional groups within the Practice.
  • Responsible for collaborating with Global Services senior leaders, as well as other Practice Execs and business leaders to develop strategic and financial objectives and for leading the execution of those objectives.
  • Responsible for assessing opportunities to streamline processes and implement change via system enhancements and/or automation, as appropriate.
  • Proactively build relationships and partner with capability teams to uncover opportunities and develop strategies to improve service.
  • Conduct the performance management process, identify training and development needs, and establish performance standards for the Practice.
Major Duties
  • Evaluates key business challenges; directs the development of new or innovative solutions
  • Guided by Northern Trust and/or organization functional strategy, impacts results of the company, a major operational segment or company-wide organization function.
  • Define the function and necessary production organization to carry out business objectives
  • Proactively research and coordinate enhancements and transformation
  • Support Business in providing thought leadership to benefit NT
  • Partner with the Head of GS and Service RM’s to improve the function
  • Responsible for maintaining quality service with future considerations
  • Ensure changes match industry trends and client expectations in terms of partnering with technology and service delivery
  • Effectively manage financial health of the practice and remain in budget
  • Advocate for cost-effective strategies that meet client needs
  • Identify opportunities for continuous efficiencies, scale, and value
  • Organize the functional work from a process and locational regulatory standpoint
  • Responsible for control and risk management
  • Provide input to Talent Decisions as related to upskilling the function from a service perspective
  • Effectively manage change and transformation objectives
  • Point of contact for issues specific to functions under management
  • Coordinate operational response to complex issues
  • Accountable for delivering quality solutions with an eye to the future of expense management and client service delivery
  • Collaborate with other Practice Execs and capabilities to deliver and overall seamless operational offering
  • Collaborate closely with Relationship Managers to identify issues
  • Coordinate response between operational teams
  • Liaise between BU stakeholders and Global Services operational leaders on recurring issues
Knowledge/Experience
  • Senior leadership experience within cash management, liquidity management & payment operations, ideally from a Bank/Investment Bank/Custody Bank
  • First-hand experience of re-imagining operational delivery & delivering change
  • A change agent & champion of constant process improvement
  • Data driven – uses data to measure performance, manage risk and prioritise
  • Strong senior stakeholder management skills and an effective communicator
  • Have the ability to break complex issues down into understandable problem statements, bring their team together to engineer practical solutions
  • Applies in-depth knowledge of own organization function or major operational segment as well as business and commercial expertise to differentiate the company from the competition
  • Shapes the opinions of, and negotiates with, other senior leaders; establishes collaborative relationships across the business and with external organizations
  • Requires deep knowledge of Global Services functions, technology and processes.
  • Requires strong leadership and forethought to lead the function globally
