This exciting opportunity, funded by UKRI grants, focuses on the development of new technology for monitoring chemicals in the environment, with options to get involved with aligned projects.Key Responsibilities:Design and Prototyping: You will be responsible for the design and prototype development of novel microfluidic chemical sensors, water samplers, and instruments, leveraging your expertise in 3D design and SolidWorks.Fabrication: Utilize advanced fabrication techniques, including 3D printing, machining, and other manufacturing processes, to bring your designs to life.Testing and Deployment: Conduct rigorous testing of the developed devices in the lab and manage their in situ deployments at various locations to ensure reliability and effectiveness in real-world conditions.Collaboration: Work closely within an interdisciplinary team of researchers and scientists, contributing your mechanical engineering expertise to a diverse range of projects.Requirements:A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.Proficiency in 3D design, especially SolidWorks, and strong hands-on skills in fabrication and manufacturing.Experience in microfluidics is advantageous but not essential.Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.Excellent organizational skills and the ability to maintain meticulous working records.This role is perfect for someone passionate about using their mechanical engineering skills to make a tangible positive impact on the environment and beyond.Training and personal development opportunities will be available and encouraged as part of the role.
