Job Description:Technical Controller – Food ManufacturingExcellent Salary & BenefitsBBF LimitedHull, HumbersideAs a Technical Controller, you will be the cornerstone of our commitment to quality and technical excellence.Our large Hull site produces many of the retailer own-label ambient cakes and chilled desserts enjoyed by people around the world, including celebration cakes, Christmas cakes, cheesecakes, slab cakes, melt-in-the-middle puddings and rice pudding.Leading the charge in overseeing all technical and quality matters on-site, you'll also engage in group project work and act as a vital link between our Hull site and the wider company network.You will manage the relationship across the group from a technical point of view with Sainsbury's and Waitrose and have significant contact with all the other major food retailers at site level when it comes to audits and product launches.You will work closely with your three Zone Technical Managers and collaboratively with the Site Hygiene Manager, ensuring technical and quality standards are upheld across the site. You’ll also work alongside the Head of NPD and NPD Controllers to assist in the planning & scheduling of new product trials and launches.Who are we looking for?This role would suit someone in a similar-level position, or an experienced Technical Manager looking to step up into a more senior role.As part of this role, you will also be required to deputise for the Group Technical Director; therefore, it would suit someone who is hungry for progression and has the potential to step up into that role in the future.Previous experience working alongside various retailers is essential for this role. If you have experience within the bakery or chilled foods sector, this would be advantageous.The role of Technical Controller at BBF· Oversee all technical and quality matters at our Hull site, ensuring adherence to industry standards and regulatory requirements.· Direct management of three Zone Technical Managers and one Technical Administrator, providing guidance, support, and leadership.· Indirectly manage a team of 25-30 individuals, including Quality Managers, Quality Assurance Supervisors, and Quality Auditors, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.· Manage the technical relationship for key retail partners such as Sainsbury's and Waitrose across the group, coordinating audits, new product launches, and maintaining exceptional standards.· Collaborate closely with the site Hygiene Manager, Head of NPD and NPD Controllers to uphold rigorous hygiene standards and drive innovation in product development.· Act as a representative of the company in various forums, demonstrating a deep understanding of technical and quality processes and advocating for best practices.· Drive a culture of safety, quality and compliance throughout the organisation, leading by example and championing our commitment to excellence.Who are BBF Limited?BBF Limited are one of the UK’s leading ambient cake and chilled dessert manufacturers of retailer own label, licensed and branded cakes, supplying recognisable major retailers across the UK and European market.Our team of experts develop and manufacture a wide range of high-quality ambient cake products across several different categories including celebration cakes, mini rolls, mince pies, fruit pies and a wide range of chilled desserts including cheesecake, crumbles and sponge cakes.
