Due to a planned expansion this multi-office building services consultancy has an immediate requirement for a senior public health design engineer to join their London office.As a Senor Public Health Design Engineer, you will be a vital part of the team and have a high degree of autonomy. You should be a well-organised, flexible, driven, forward planner with the ability to deliver work to a high standard and to tight timescales. You should also be able to take on the ability to manage the public health engineering aspects of other more junior members of the team assisting on projects.Key responsibilities include:
  • Working under minimum supervision on a variety of technically challenging and interesting projects across varied sectors
  • Working as part of a larger team on certain projects
  • Attending principal meetings and assisting with client presentations on selected projects
  • Raise/promote the level of technical excellence relating to public health engineering within the business
  • Over time, develop the ability to become a point of contact for key clients
  • Help generate repeat business through customer care of existing clients
  • Be client facing and involved in all stages of the project from inception to completion
  • Working closely with others in a team environment to achieve a common goal
  • Producing drawings, specifications and reports
  • Producing calculations or guiding others to complete them
  • Reviewing project designs to ensure that they comply to all relevant codes, regulations and standards
  • Sustainability understanding and implementation (LZC)
  • Site management of contractors and installations in terms of compliance with design
  • Continued Professional Development (CPD) and continue to learn about new technologies and developments
  • Strong understanding of other disciplines
Your Experience & Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 4-5 years experience of public health design in building services, post qualification completion
  • Demonstrate a strong knowledge of different types of above ground drainage systems
  • Experience of designing projects for the healthcare, residential, retail and commercial environments.
  • Experience in carrying out on-site surveys and installation inspections.
  • Experience of Software design using – Microsoft suite of programmes, Revit, AutoCAD etc
  • Knowledge of British and European Standards, Building Regulations documents etc
  • Knowledge of HTM’s and MOJ Standards would also be beneficial
  • A good understanding of hot and cold domestic water services
  • Professional institution membership (CIBSE, SOPHE, IET)
  • An understanding and specification of incorporating various renewable technologies
  • Working knowledge of BREEAM
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • A strong willingness to learn and a desire to develop new and existing skills
