UNIVERSITY OF OTAGO, CHRISTCHURCHOur University of Otago, Christchurch campus is the base for medical and postgraduate health education and health research in Christchurch.The Department of Paediatrics collaborates closely in student teaching and research programmes with the region’s hospitals run by HealthNZ/Te Whatu Ora, and other community health agencies.The role/Te mahiThis Senior Lecturer role within the Department of Paediatrics in Christchurch, represents an exciting opportunity to make a significant contribution to on-going teaching of medical students and potentially other departmental teaching programmes depending on your particular expertise.The successful candidate will have the opportunity to participate in research activities including supervision of research activities, to lead and develop teaching activities within the Department of Paediatrics and to foster good relations with the University, local tertiary institutions, HealthNZ, and the community.It will be expected that the appointee will play an active role in the University of Otago, Christchurch, including participation in various committees, attending departmental faculty meetings, and liaising closely with other academics and students.Skills and experience/ Kā pūkeka me kā wheakoThe successful candidate will have:
- A relevant postgraduate and/or professional qualification.
- A higher research degree, PhD or MD is desirable.
- Specialist qualification in an area of Paediatric expertise not already covered within the department e.g. Clinical Genetics, General Paediatrics, Paediatric Haematology/Oncology.
- Expertise and experience in teaching and curriculum development.
- A recognised qualification for specialist registration with the New Zealand Medical Council.
- A current Annual Practising Certificate.
