They pride themselves on their great pipeline of business and reputation built over the years through word of mouth alone.In this crucial role, you will play a pivotal role in designing renewable energy systems and specifications, predicting project costings and ensuring robust system operations. As a Senior Solar Engineer, you'll stay updated on technological advancements in the solar PV and energy storage industry, driving innovative solutions for their clients.Responsibilities and Duties:

Develop design specifications and functional requirements for commercial, or industrial solar energy systems or components.
Review specifications and recommend engineering or manufacturing changes to achieve solar design objectives.
Perform thermal, stress or cost reduction analyses for solar systems.
Develop standard operation procedures and quality of safety standards for solar installation work.
Provide technical direction or support to installation teams during installation, start-up, testing, system commissioning and performance monitoring.
Perform computer simulations of solar photovoltaic (PV) generation system performance or energy production to optimize efficiency.
Monitor completed projects energy outputs to agreements.
A solid technical understanding of all phases of PV projects and PV design.
Strong technical design knowledge, incl. grid-tied, hybrid and off-grid systems.
Ability to do energy metering, analysis and technical report writing.
Familiarity with municipal approvals process.
Construction & commissioning monitoring.
Proficient in AutoCAD, MSOffice, Google Docs/Sheets, Excel
Familiarity with financial models, time value of money, IRRs etc.
Knowledge of applicable codes, policies, standards and best practices.
Ability to work within budgets and deadlines.
Attention to detail.
Knowledge of procurement processes.
Co-ordinate site studies and local engineering aspects of project development.
Develop grid connection solution for projects.
Establish provisional costings for engineering aspects of projects.

EPC costing
Project schedules

Work Experience:

Experience from an EPC or IPP highly preferred.
Experience within the solar power industry preferable.
Able to manage and lead a team.
Proficient in AutoCAD, PVSyst, PVSol, ProfiCAD software.
A dynamic personality, able to support with technical sales and liaise with clients.
The ability to work with multiple disciplines of projects.
The ability to work across multiple projects in parallel.
Eligible to register with the Engineering Council of South Africa.

Qualifications/Other:

BSc/BEng: Electrical Engineering (Meng will be beneficial)
Drivers licence and own transport required.
Willingness to travel within or out of South Africa
