Significant improvements are required with commitments made to HSBC executive and externally. The role of Group Data and Analytics Office (DAO) is critical to the execution of strategic and consistent control improvements and the Chief Control Officer (CCO) team for DAO are a key partner to achieve success.The CCO team plays an important role in enabling the bank to operate within its risk appetite, by ensuring efficient and effective risk and control management. We do this by providing operational risk and control expertise, conducting high quality reviews of the bank's control environment, maintaining robust risk governance focused on material risk and issues, and evolving a culture of continuous and consistent risk management.As a Senior Control Manager you will be part of the GCIO, COO, Chief Control Office and will report into the Global Chief Control Officer for DAO. The role purpose is to support the Global Chief Control Officer for DAO across all aspects of the global team, with a particular focus on Data Privacy or Data Usage risks and controls (depending on area of expertise), and where with specific regional initiatives.What you'll do
  • Act as trusted advisor for senior management of the Privacy or Data Management DAO teams on how to properly manage their operational risk and all items related (Risk assessments, Control environment, Issues management.
  • Manage the promotion of accountable risk and control decision-making based on quality data and commercial analysis.
  • Manage the provision of specialist risk and control knowledge and insights leading efforts to continuously improve the control environment and monitoring of risk, including behaviours.
  • Provide critical leadership and engagement between global and regional CCO and DAO teams.
  • Develop and manage stakeholder relationships with CCO DAO, DAO and regional CCO including senior management and some executive stakeholders.
  • Identify trends to anticipate future developments in the risk and control environment.
  • Actively challenge poor, inefficient or excessive controls, related tasks and behaviours.
What you need to have to succeed in this role
  • Commercial and customer focused risk and control expertise in either Data Privacy or Data Management (Data Usage).
  • Ability to analyse and interpret risk and control related information to provide insight and improvement.
  • Deliver clear, concise messages based on good evidence and informed judgement that support risk and control related decision making.
  • Present and report complex risk and control information in ways that are meaningful for different stakeholders.
  • Driving improvements to information metrics and processes and strengthen risk management and internal controls.
  • Strong communication skills to be able influence and challenge stakeholders.
  • Strong written, verbal and presentation skills.
