The RoleThe Fire Systems Engineer has a leading role in implementing Fire Safety policy and strategy. You will ensure both the implementation and compliance with the Business Code of Practice, relevant Legislation, British and European Standards.The Fire Systems Engineer will ensure compliance and improvement opportunities in Fire Safety using best practice and the most cost-effective solutions to achieve short and long-term goals.Principal Accountabilities
  • Manage the maintenance of the Fire Detection and Suppression systems for the Speciality Steels sites to ensure compliance with the relevant legislation.
  • Manage and coordinate contractors to service and maintain fire systems across the business.
  • Advise Business units on the condition and suitability of systems and associated equipment enabling a forward plan of obsolescence replacement and system development.
  • Manage and monitor the delivery of contracts for supplying installing Fire safety equipment.
  • Provide advice to support effective decision-making and the resolution of Fire System problems and the delivery of projects.
Knowledge & ExperienceKnowledge
  • knowledge of Fire Detection and Suppression systems, Fire Safety and its relevant legislation.
  • Relevant qualifications in fire and or electrical disciplines.
  • At least 3 years' experience in the operation and maintenance of Fire Systems and associated equipment.
Skills
  • Effective man manager with the necessary leadership skills to motivate a diverse workforce.
  • Strong Drive, Motivation and Commitment
  • The post holder should have good analytical skills and the ability to assimilate, organise and analyse pertinent information for logic-based problem solving.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Able to communicate in clear concise manner, both in writing and orally, communicating honestly, clearly and directly, making effective use of communication technology.
  • Computer literate with practical experience of maintenance management systems
  • Project management skills.
  • A team worker, with a flexible approach to work.
