The Lead Recruiter for SC Youth ChalleNGe Academy, a quasi-military academy, must be a results-oriented self-starter and team player driven to succeed in a fast-paced environment. Weekly travel and knowledge of Academy programs and policies is required. As the first contact for potential applicants, recruiters must represent the Academy in a positive and professional manner at all times and be able to relate to youth and young adults who are 16-18 (15 if turning 16 within 2-3 months) years old as well as their families and support systems. In addition to using recruitment techniques and strategies, Academy recruiters are responsible for knowing the placement and mentoring guidelines/procedures as established by the National Guard Bureau. The Lead Recruiter will create and guide all recruiting efforts for the Academy. Responsible for monthly reporting and giving updates and feedback to both the Deputy Director and Director. The ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with families from diverse backgrounds and experiences, competency in computer skills, particularly database management, word-processing and spreadsheet development are critical to this position. The Lead Recruiter must have the ability to conduct engaging presentations promoting the Academy to individuals and groups and is required to travel throughout South Carolina to youth serving agencies, schools, homeless shelters, parks/recreation events, businesses, and other organizations for recruiting purposes. The recruiter must meet or exceed the recruiting target numbers established by the Director. The purpose of this position is to plan and implement potential applicant recruiting activities, establish and maintain contact with sources of applicant referrals across the state, and make individual and group presentations. The recruiter will keep all sources updated on the Academy activities and opportunities, continuously develop new contacts to increase the number of applicant referral sources, assist applicants in completing applications, assist in applicant interview and the admissions process, explore and develop sources of individual mentor referrals and placement opportunities, transport and/or supervise cadets when participating in offsite academy activities. Perform all other duties as assigned.A high school diploma and two years of relevant experience.A bachelor's degree in related field of study and 1 year of recruiting experience. Marketing experience preferred.Experience in recruiting of youth, as well as adults for staff and volunteer opportunities. Knowledge of laws, regulations, policies and procedures relevant to the area of employment. Individual must be willing to travel overnight, promote a good work environment and maintain a professional appearance. Position requires that the individual maintain up-to-date knowledge of the status of assigned program areas. Maintains harmonious working relationship with all Youth Challenge Departments and Programs to ensure the needs of the cadets remains first and foremost.
