We are looking for a dynamic and motivated Clinical Director for Respiratory with General Medicine on call duties to join our friendly and enthusiastic team at the North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust (NCIC).Successful applicants must have full registration with the GMC.Please note: You must be on the Specialist Register in order to be eligible for appointment to this level of post.The post holder would be coming to join a committed and experienced team.Main duties of the jobAn opportunity has arisen to join our friendly, dedicated team and applications are invited for the post of Clinical Director for Respiratory Medicine and General Medical on call duties. This post will be based primarily at The Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle, but with requirement to work at West Cumberland Hospital if needed.The post involves out-patient and in-patient duties and a regular commitment to both in-reach into the medical admissions unit and on-call for general medicine. We would particularly welcome applicants with a special interest in sleep, asthma or pleural diseases, though any specialist interest would be welcomed and supported.To be successful you will have the skills, energy and enthusiasm to lead our clinical teams, and drive the change and innovation to help us deliver the best possible care. Education and Qualifications
Essential
  • Valid Full Registration with the General Medical Council
  • Membership of the Royal College of Physicians or equivalent
  • Entry on the General Medical Council (GMC) Specialist Register via one of the following: a) Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) (the proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of the interview) b) Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR) c) European Community Rights
Desirable
  • Other relevant medical and non-medical training/degree
  • Other relevant postgraduate qualification
Experience and Knowledge
Essential
  • Completed Higher Specialist Training (CCT) in Respiratory and general medicine or evidence of equivalent competency.
  • Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients.
Desirable
  • A commitment to, and experience of teaching
Teaching
Essential
  • Experience of, and commitment to teaching undergraduate and postgraduate medical staff.
Desirable
  • Experience of teaching basic clinical skills to undergraduates
