- Ensures custodial staff are scheduled and assigned to various buildings and/or areas, inspects work to ensure satisfactory performance, takes action to correct deficiencies, and takes necessary steps to meet special requirements or circumstances
- Supervises staff and when necessary, performs tasks assigned to custodians
- Ensures that services are consistent and at a high level of quality by providing adequate training, supervising the production work, and emphasizing the proper use of chemicals and equipment and the importance of quality control
- Coordinates issues promptly and thoroughly with the Manager of Custodial Services
- Routinely updates their own industry-level knowledge, under the supervision of the Director, and routinely trains their staff on cleaning protocols for COVID-19 disinfecting procedures, products and equipment; and directs staff engaged in disinfecting procedures in the workplace
- Understands and routinely responds to the needs the customers and building contacts
- Demonstrates a willingness to serve
- High School diploma - preference for a college degree
- 5 years of custodial experience - preference for some plant operation maintenance experience
- A basic knowledge of English - including the ability to read, write and speak English with understanding for business conversations and conduct
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally
- Ability to work as part of a team and to act independently and exercise mature judgement
- Capability to analyze relevant operational issues and identify solutions
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- A valid driver’s issued by District of Columbia, Maryland or Virginia
- Demonstrable knowledge of the chemistry behind the cleaning process
- Keeps pace with the changing technology and its application
- Some computer literacy
