Operational Support Specialist - Industrial Design

- Manage dock/freight traffic in and out of Garmin docks and /or partner facilities
- Communicate with drivers coordinating arrival times and dock schedule
- Check in drivers and suppliers as needed to meet security requirements
- Load or unload freight using pallet jack or forklift when needed
- Stage freight in identified freight zones for shipment / receiving
- Maintain electronic tracking database for crates and exhibit asset
- Work with department leaders to generate or identify outbound/inbound freight lists
- Work with program or department lead in the planning and coordination of offsite storage
- Support internal freight movements, kiosk staging, crate / pallet repairs
- Receive, transact, sort and inventory inbound materials
- Support team by maintaining workshop equipment including but not limited to following weekly equipment checklist, equipment testing, routine maintenance, identifying damage or worn components
- Work with shop administrator identifying damaged / worn components and repair plan, shop improvements, and supporting approved implementation plans
- Work with program lead supporting equipment maintenance schedule and maintenance logs
- Work with shop administrator and program lead maintaining shop supply inventory
- Support maintenance of workshop safety materials, PPE, and annual compliance initiatives
- Support department clean up and crate EOL schedule
- Capture/share safety concerns with program lead and department leaders
- Support in maintenance of bulk materials/hardware and in handling hardware, bulk materials, and distribution
- Exhibit a working knowledge of basic tools, power hand tools and workshop equipment
- Support crate blocking and other shipment preparation as needed using basic shop power tools
- Able to safely operate pallet jack and lift 50+ pounds using safe lifting techniques
- Able to be trained to use multiple types of forklifts and maintain certifications
- Facilitate connections to efficiently solve problems, build relationships, and develop unity as an approachable resource
- Some travel required
- Associate’s Degree in Operations Management, Project Management, Equipment Maintenance, Occupational Safety, or related field AND a minimum of 6 years related experience OR a minimum of 8 years equivalent combination of education and experience
- Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Must demonstrate knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Working knowledge of shop safety procedures, and experience working with shop equipment: saws, milling machines, routers, jointers, drill press, sanders, and hand tools, etc.
- Serve in a leadership capacity as an individual contributor and demonstrate strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Must be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude, and work respectfully with others
- Able to safely operate pallet jack and lift 50+ pounds using safe lifting techniques
- Bachelor’s Degree in Operations Management, Project Management, Equipment Maintenance, Occupational Safety or related field
- Previous warehouse or related experience
- Previous trade show or related experience
- Woodshop, metal shop, or other workshop experience
- Experience with occupational safety – safety policies / procedures
- Experience with compliance – ISO / OSHA program support and implementation
