GEA UK has a requirement for an Automation Engineer to be based in their Warrington office. The role will involve working within a multi-disciplinary engineering team to support deliver of automation scope in a full project lifecycle.
The role would be suited to a proactive and resourceful individual.Responsibilities / TasksKey tasks:Development of project documentation such as Functional Design Specification, Software Design Specification and FAT Test schedules in line with user requirements and process designArchitect, develop and debug PLC code with an emphasis on generating code that is organized, structured, documented, maintainable and reusableSupporting and contribute to wider project documents such as System Architecture and I/O SchedulesSupport commissioning activities by carrying out I/O Testing, configuration of equipment over fieldbus networks, setup PID loops and assist in water/product testing.Instrumentation and sensor interface, data logging, and communication interfaces with other industrial processorsEnsure that all equipment, processes, and methodologies comply with applicable standards, company policy and all Health and Safety Regulations and CodesYour Profile / QualificationsComfortable with programming and development of Siemens/Rockwell & Wonderware automation platforms. (Siemens Step 7, Rockwell RSLogix/Studio 5000)Familiarity with Ethernet PLC to PLC and PLC to SCADA communications.Knowledge of Profibus, Profinet and the configuration of I/O devices on these networks.Familiarity with SCADA systems connected to multiple PLCs – Wonderware InTouch, FactoryTalk preferable but other SCADA systems such as iFix or Siemens WinCC are alternatives.Other skills that would be advantageous but not essential are:Working understanding of general plant systems in FMCG industry (ie. pneumatic, electrical, process)Knowledge of SQL and MESAn understanding of VMWare and virtual environmentsQualificationsAn engineering degree or a higher technical qualification is normally required. Relevant experience with the willingness and ability to investigate and resolve control system issues is more important.LocationNormal place of work will be Warrington. However, occasional domestic and international travel may be required to visit clients’ sites.Experience5 Years+ experience with Siemens/Rockwell & Wonderware automation platforms stated in the technical requirements aboveExperience in working in a process engineering environment. Basic understanding of hygienic liquid process systems would be advantageous.Control and programming and of VSDs, instrumentation and valves.Ability to design control systems from P&ID’s & Process Data SheetsGeneration of project documentationMicrosoft Office literateMust be proactive and resourcefulTeamwork and Co-operational skillsPlanning and Organisational skillsEssential RequisitesFluent in English (written & speaking)Technical and professional knowledgeUnderstanding health and safety requirementsAbility to work alone and as a teamDid we spark your interest?
