Job Description:POSITION TITLE: Parent EducatorDEPARTMENT/LOCATION: Olathe Parents as TeachersSTATUS: Classified - Exempt, Full TimeHOURS OF WORK: 40 hours / 242-day calendarSTARTING SALARY: $37,800-increased based on education level and home visiting experiencePOSITION SUMMARY:Olathe Parents as Teachers is seeking a highly qualified individual to provide services to families with children prenatal to age 5 residing in the Olathe School District. This position will implement the Parents as Teachers curriculum and provide education to families in the form of personal visits, group meetings, screenings, and connections to a network of resources for parents and children. This position is reports to the Olathe Parents as Teachers Program Manager.PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Completion of training in the Parents as Teachers Curriculum from the Parents as Teachers National Center, as well as all other required trainings necessary to provide services to families and children.
  • Follow Parents as Teachers National Center and KSDE requirements and guidelines.
  • Provide parent education through regular personal home visits implementing the Parents as Teachers Curriculum. Home visits may occur on weekdays, evenings, and/or Saturdays.
  • Maintain and submit in a timely manner all required family and program documentation.
  • Collaborate with other parent educators to plan and facilitate Group Connections and other group activities for families.
  • Participate in reflective supervision and staff meetings.
  • Engage in recruitment activities and represent PAT in community outreach activities.
  • Support the philosophy and mission of Parents as Teachers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in early childhood education, social work, or a related field.
  • Valid driver's license, vehicle, and car insurance.
Pay is based on home visiting experience.equired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:This position requires the performance of light work, exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. The position involves prolonged sitting, standing, walking, talking, and hearing; occasional lifting, climbing, stooping, bending, balancing, turning and reaching; some pushing, pulling, kneeling, crawling, and crouching. The position involves having close visual acuity to perform activities of the job.
