This role will work a standard work week.About QuidelOrtho, PencoedQuidelOrtho has been manufacturing products in South Wales for over 40 years. Our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, based in Pencoed, employs over 600 people who are involved in the manufacture and supply of clinical laboratory and immunohematology products to sites across the globe. Our Pencoed team manufacture a large menu of immunohematology products used in transfusion medicine; in addition to a large menu of immunoassay products encompassing a range of disease categories. On site we have a range of functions operating globally & locally. All our employees are working towards one common goal, to help save and improve lives through diagnostics.Your new role:As a Control Systems Engineer you are accountable to the Engineering Systems Manager for the definition, build and implementation of strategic projects to support business development of QuidelOrtho UK Operations, and support such systems once implemented. You will be working with the business and other stakeholders to provide expert analysis and advice on system upgrades.What You’ll Be Doing:
  • Execution of improvement activities as request via service request forms and problem report forms.
  • Resolution of engineering systems or data issues (breakdown recovery). Provide subject matter expertise to the local and wider business.
  • Provide front line operational support for delivered business systems.
  • Ensure all system changes are analysed, designed, and executed in a controlled manner.
  • Identify and document system test and systems go-live strategies.
  • Support maintenance team with breakdowns when requested.
  • Maintain compliance with all training requirements.
  • Support engineering team with data extracts and breakdown recovery.
  • Create systems support documentation and provide training to peers.
  • Regular team meetings with other team members to triage department worklist.
  • Adhere to company change management processes.
  • Deployment of best practice solutions and adherence to corporate standards and methodologies.
  • Provide out of hours support as part of an "on-call rota".
  • Ensures that all activities are carried out in compliance with the requirements of the relevant standards.
  • Maintain knowledge of industry trends, latest technology, techniques, and best practice.
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
What You’ll Need to Succeed:
  • Degree qualified preferred, with electrical/controls engineering and/or significant appropriate experience.
  • Proven relevant experience (ideally 3 years+) in a similar role ideally in a highly regulated manufacturing environment (Diagnostics, Medical Devices, Pharmaceuticals or Consumer).
  • Good IT capabilities are essential.
  • Rockwell systems PLC/HMI programming.
  • Siemens systems PLC/HMI programming.
  • Familiarity with MS SQL data querying
  • Software validation expertise
  • Vision inspection systems knowledge
  • Experience with installation of Windows based applications and PC configuration * Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Problem-solving attitude with an eye for detail.
