- Implement data governance frameworks, tools, and technologies
- Monitor and report on the effectiveness of data governance policies and procedures
- Prepare and coordinate data governance committees, councils, and working groups
- Creates and drives a change management plan to make employees think of Data as an asset.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and standards such as GDPR, HIPAA, and SOX.
- Collaborate with IT teams and business stakeholders to ensure alignment of data governance with organizational goals
- Provide guidance and support to data owners and data custodians
- Data Auditing: As a complementary activity, a Data Governance Manager could conduct regular data audits. This involves reviewing and ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and uniqueness of data across various systems. These audits can help uncover discrepancies and areas for improvement in data quality and management.
- Data Privacy Compliance: Ensuring compliance with data privacy laws and regulations can be another essential activity. - Knowledge of industry-standard data governance frameworks such as DAMA or DCAM
- Knowledge of data related government regulatory requirements and emerging trends and issues
- Familiarity with data security and privacy regulations and standards such as GDPR, HIPAA, and SOX
- Experience with data governance tools such as Collibra, Informatica, or IBM Information Governance Catalog
- Project management skills.
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
