Provide individual and group counseling for students in the college (both face-to-face and teletherapy), clinical consultation (triage appointment), intake, assessment, and crisis interventions. Conduct drop-in hours for CVM students. Prepare for sessions and maintain accurate and up-to-date records of clinical services.Outreach services (35%):
Design and implement outreach and prevention programming to students, staff, and faculty focused on topics such as study skills, stress management, test anxiety, conflict management and effective communication strategies. Assist in planning student orientation activities in the CVM.Other professional responsibilities (25%):
Other essential duties include: 1) providing input in the development and implementation of the new curriculum, especially concerning student mental health and well-being; 2) providing instructional support in the professional skills courses in the DVM degree curriculum; 3) effectively participate in administrative and professional activities (e.g., CAPS staff and division meetings/trainings, conferences, peer consultations, professional development, etc.); and 4) serve on college and university committees when applicable. The qualified applicant will have the option to engage in scientific research.The individual is expected to foster excellent working relationships with co-workers; increase knowledge, develop new skills or abilities that contribute to effective service provision; practice all responsibilities in accordance with ethical and professional standards and state laws; understand and comply with CAPS and University policies and procedures; and fulfill all other duties as assigned.QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:
- For hire as a Clinician I:
- Master’s degree from an accredited social work, counseling, or other mental health-related program, and a clinical license to practice under supervision in Utah (e.g., CSW, ACMHC, AMFT, Psychology Resident).
- For hire as a Clinician II:
- Master’s degree from an accredited social work, counseling, or other mental health-related program, and a clinical license to practice independently in Utah (e.g., LCSW, CMHC, LMFT).
- OR a doctoral degree in clinical, counseling, or combined psychology from an APA-accredited doctoral program, and a clinical license to practice under supervision in Utah (i.e., Psychology Resident).
- For all levels:
- Generalist base of knowledge and experience in psychotherapy (including teletherapy), (i.e., theories, processes, and elements of therapeutic change) and familiarity with developmental and other non-medical models of treatment and supervision.
- Experience in a university counseling setting and/or experience in areas related to the mental health needs of a diverse college population (e.g., eating disorders, anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, personality disorders).
- Full licensure in the state of Utah
- Experience in providing psychoeducational workshops relevant to the campus community.
- Experience with teaching and program development.
- Experience in providing supervision.
- Awareness of and respect for cultural, individual, and role differences, including those based on age, gender, gender identity, race, ethnicity, culture, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, disability, language, and socioeconomic status, and an ability to consider these factors when working with members of such groups.
- Skills with technology.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.

Currently, the USU CVM participates in a "2+2" program with the College of Veterinary Medicine at Washington State University and the broader Washington – Idaho – Montana – Utah (WIMU) Regional Program in Veterinary Medicine that provides instruction to 30 students in each class cohort. However, in 2022, the State of Utah approved the establishment of a full 4-year DVM degree program at USU with the goal of admitting its inaugural class of 40 students in the fall of 2025 and supporting a class size of 80 veterinary students in subsequent years.About Counseling and Psychological Services:
