Job Description:POSITION TITLE: Maintenance Grounds - LeadDEPARTMENT/LOCATION: Maintenance /​Operations Service Center​HOURS OF WORK: 8 Hour Daily/247 Calendar Days YearlySTATUS: Classified - Non-Exempt, Full TimePOSITION SUMMARY:This position is responsible for providing grounds maintenance services at assigned site.This position is expected to ensure athletic fields and safe grounds areas are protected and well-kept utilizing a variety of special grounds maintenance operations.This position is part of the maintenance team and reports to the manager of facilities.PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:Assists in the application of pesticides to control insects and weeds.Attends, in-service training, unit meetings, and workshops.Cleans landscaped areas for the purpose of preventing flooding and removing hazards.Constructs landscape features by adapting or modifying facilities to specific needs.Coordinates employment recommendations, outside service contracts, and schedules.Implements activities and projects complying with guidelines and requirements.Maintains grounds equipment ensuring safe operating condition.Maintains licenses guaranteeing regulatory requirements are met.Monitors program finances to confirm fiscal practices are followed.Operates heavy equipment for the maintenance of grounds.Plants landscaping materials keeping grounds attractive and protecting against erosion.Recommends actions, policies, and procedures providing direction for meeting objectives.Removes snow from parking lots and sidewalks ensuring safety for people and vehicles.Responds to immediate operational and safety concerns by taking appropriate action.Requests and transports equipment, supplies, and tools for job sites.Supports administrative personnel by aiding with the administrative roles.Trains staff for the purpose of developing professional safety and trade awareness skills.Perform other duties as assigned.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:​​High school diploma or equivalent combined with on-the-job/technical training required.​REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Excellent verbal, written and listening communication skills.Ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.High degree of motivation, responsibility, and confidentiality.Demonstrated ability in compiling, organizing, and analyzing data.Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced work environment.Highly collaborative team player.Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, etc.).Firm adherence to safety practices.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:This position requires the performance of heavy work which may include exerting up to 100 pounds of force, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. The position involves all environmental working conditions which include but not limited to extreme cold/heat, close quarters, hazards, loud noises, and vibration. The position also requires frequent balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, feeling, grasping, hearing, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, standing, stooping, talking, and walking.
