Job Title: Information Officer - Compliance & Assurance - CTP HQSalary: The starting salary is £33,348, which includes allowances totalling £2,841.The salary is broken down as £30,507 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £32,639. Plus, a location allowance of £1,841 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.Location: West BromptonJob SummaryThis is a new role where the successful candidate will provide vital administrative support to the Information Access Team (IAT) in the Compliance and Assurance (C&A) Pillar within Counter Terrorism Policing Headquarters (CTPHQ) to ensure that statutory deadlines are met.The Unit manages Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and Right of Access Requests (ROAR). FOIA entitles members of the public to request information that may be held by the MPS as a public authority. The Data Protection Act enables individuals to submit a request (ROAR) to establish what information the MPS holds about them. Our remit encompasses the Met's Specialist Operations (SO) Command Units - Aviation Policing, CTC, PaDP, RaSP and Protective Security & Operations, but may also include other MPS units, as well as the CT Policing Network.Your primary role as part of the team will be to provide support to the Senior and Information Managers to ensure the smooth and efficient processing of these requests within the statutory deadline. This will entail liaising regularly with these SO units and providing advice and guidance to ensure compliance, where necessaryTherefore, it is expected that you will have a basic understanding of these Acts and the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).This position provides a unique opportunity for the role holder to gain experience of SO and the wider CT Policing Network and also liaise with our external stakeholders. You will work closely with staff of all ranks and grades, in a fast-paced environment with good development prospects.Key TasksThe post holder will be required to do the following:
  • Ensure the FOIA and ROAR Excel databases are up to date and all requests are recorded and responded to within the given timeframe
  • Monitor the unit mailbox to ensure requests are actioned promptly.
  • Validate requests by assessment against legal requirements.
  • Identify requests, which may require an early resolution/completion.
  • Conduct prior research on the CycFreedom database or through web based searches for information that is already in the public domain.
  • Liaise with applicants in writing and recording on the relevant systems.
  • Follow up requests to ensure information sought is received within the specified timeframe.
  • Act as a point of contact for stakeholders both internally and externally.
  • Respond to queries or escalating where necessary.
  • Provide guidance on FOIA and ROARs to officers and staff with support of line management.
  • Deputise for Information Manager
  • Any other ad hoc duties as required
Key SkillsThe post holder must have:
  • Basic knowledge of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA)
  • Basic knowledge of the Data Protection Act 1998 & 2018
  • Basic knowledge of the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR)
  • A proven ability to manage competing demands to meet deadlines, whilst maintaining a high standard of work
  • Ability to remain calm whilst working under pressure and unsupervised
  • Demonstrate good organisational skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Experience of managing databases
  • A proven ability to communicate clearly and effectively both in writing and verbally with senior stakeholders and staff at all levels.

VettingThis post requires access to the most sensitive intelligence material on a daily basis.
