- Coordinate, manage and report on the Certification assurance program across sustainment activities in engineering and maintenance on the PBS.
- Coordinate and manage Certification requirements compliant to Defence and Navy Policy and standards, Statutory and Classification Society rules and regulations.
- Deliver trusted advice to the ACSSPO Principal Engineer on issues relating to the Certification Basis on PBS.
- Make recommendations to the ACSSPO Principal Engineer on engineering decisions, including the assessment of Deviations and Waivers and the development of associated risk assessments, the identification and implementation of authorised changes to the Certification basis.
- Liaise and work collaboratively with the Systems Safety Lead on safety and statutory matters related to Certification management.
- Review engineering deliverables across the systems engineering life cycle in support of engineering changes, provide input and advice against compliance to requirements of the Certification basis.
- Assist in the planning, coordinating and participate in witness points during Class society periodic surveys, including but not limited to Annual, Continuous Machinery and Continuous Hull.
- Manage, track and report on Conditions of Class and Surveyor Observations on PBS with a view to provide mitigation or remediation action plans to resolve items in a planned and timely manner.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience coupled with relevant qualifications).
- Eligible to obtain SQEP Engineering Delegation Authority within an Authorised Engineering Organisation (AEO).
- Minimum 15 years’ experience in undertaking and managing designs.
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a Defence or related technical industry (CASG/Defence/Defence Industry experience).
- Experience in taking responsibility for engineering decisions within a complex regulatory framework and ensuring that safe operations are maintained.
- Strong client and staff engagement, relationship, and communications skills.
- Requires in-depth and/or breadth of expertise in own discipline and broad knowledge of other disciplines within the engineering realm.
- Hold, or be eligible for, membership of a recognised professional body and registration as Chartered Engineer.
- Must be eligible for ITAR clearance of relevant ship systems.
- Experience in Certification Management and/or Certification Basis for Maritime Assets.
- Experience in managing requirements in DOORS.
- Experience with Statutory and Classification Societies requirements and periodic surveys.
- Experience in marine design preferred.
- Experience with Department of Defence design delivery.
