- Must be able to travel to customer locations within the U.S. and internationally to manage and facilitate the successful installation, implementation and operation of systems as defined for each independent customer account.
- Responsible for installation of Navigation Aid products and systems (including ILS, DME, VOR, TACAN) produced by the organization and sold to U.S. and International military and commercial customers in compliance with all required specifications. In addition to installation activities, this position will also support Flight Check, perform On-the-Job training and assist with resolving any after-sales field issues related to equipment performance.
- Responsible for product testing (Production Acceptance or Factory Acceptance Test), troubleshooting and repair of systems within the factory when not deployed in the field.
- The Field Service Engineer will work directly with construction prime contractors as well as airport authorities and users to ensure the proper installation and operation of the systems as designated for the intended customer, working individually or as part of a team which may include contractor and sub-contractors.
- Provide ongoing technical support to assist customers after installation through email and phone communications to diagnose and resolve reported technical issues.
- Interface with engineering, customer service and program teams to provide site specific detail and feedback on improvements. Promote an optimal safety culture.
- Must be a US Person as defined in applicable law. Must be a U.S. Person as defined in applicable law, or otherwise authorized or eligible for authorization, to access to hardware, software, technology or technical data controlled under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or the Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
- Prior hand’s-on experience (at least 3-5+ years) in installing Navigation Aid products and systems (including ILS, DME, VOR, TACAN) or similar aviation related electronics systems.
- Possess analytical and critical thinking skills and the ability to apply logic and applied theory to resolve problems, and have the patience to find resolutions to complex issue.
- Experience managing multiple projects in a deadline driven environment. Experience providing on-the-job training to customers, as well as internal junior field service engineers and technicians.
- Ability to adapt to changing requirements and to track and report status on set schedules.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field with a minimum of 5-8+ years of relevant work experience, or Master’s degree in field with 4+ years of relevant work experience, or an equivalent combination for education and experience including FAA / Military experience in lieu of civil education. Emphasis in radio / RF is a definite plus.
- Schedule: In Thales Facilities – Standard 5-day/40 hour workweek –or- 9/80 Alternate Work Schedule available with flexible start/stop times dependent upon assignment volume. On travel at customer site – hours defined by individual site manager.
- Travel: Anticipated to include as much as 75% travel to U.S. and International destinations.
- Customer Location Based or Site Visits: Installation / servicing occurs on customer sites.
