Description :SummaryThe Laboratory Technician 1 is responsible for performing basic asphalt, concrete, soil and aggregate materials testing under close supervision in accordance with published standards and DOWL laboratory policies and procedures. The person in this position is expected to be detail oriented, exercise a strong work ethic, demonstrate a desire to learn skills, and have good organizational and communication skills. The Laboratory Technician 1 must learn, understand, and implement multiple testing standards and procedures in a DOWL lab or at a project location. This person is expected to work well with others, absorb and apply constructive criticism, and seek guidance from more experienced members of the team as necessary.Job Responsibilities and DutiesTo be successful in this position, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Understanding Budget and ScheduleBasic understanding of budgets and schedules. Collaborates with supervisor and/or resource manager to plan work time on assignments. Conducts basic monitoring of budget and schedule for simple project tasks assigned.Industry Standards and RegulationsDemonstrates basic familiarity with the following design codes:

Mathematical SkillsAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
