Position SummaryTechnology SpecialistInformation TechnologyFull TimeSoutheast Missouri State University is seeking a Technology Specialist to join its Information Technology User Services team. The Technology Specialist provides frontline technical end-user support for campus faculty, staff, and students relating to university-owned computer hardware/software and/or networking problems. Technical support primarily consists of, but not limited to, windows-based systems.Job Responsibilities:
  • Provide consultation and support for the installation, use and management of computer hardware, software, printers, and other end-user technologies
  • Provide end-user telephone, on-site, remote, and walk-in support
  • Respond to, prioritize, and track end-user requests for technical assistance in the IT Help Desk ticketing system
  • Troubleshoot, follow-up, and resolve reported technical issues; document steps and resolution in the ticketing system
  • Provide timely resolution of problems or escalation on behalf of the end-user by maintaining strong working relationships with IT professionals in areas such as network services, software systems, and application developers
  • Work with end-users and User Services staff to keep end-user equipment current and perform system upgrades and new system deployments when needed
  • Work with Information Technology management to inventory and sustain campus end-user technologies
  • Support campus standards for purchasing new computer hardware and software
  • Support campus Information Security policies and protect end-user data and systems
  • Participate in campus information technology projects
Required Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED
  • CompTIA A+ Certification (send a copy when applying) or CompTIA A+ Certification within the first 12 months employment
  • Knowledge of principles of computing and communications networks
  • Experience with support of Windows and Microsoft Office 365
  • Experience with Windows deployment and computer provisioning techniques
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical issues to a non-technical audience
  • Demonstrated experience working and interacting in a team environment
  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of customer service
